A British embassy staffer has been detained in Germany after allegedly being caught promoting paperwork to Russian intelligence brokers.
The person, who has solely been recognized as ‘David S,’ was arrested Tuesday after being trailed by each British and German authorities. German federal prosecutors described the person as a 57-year-old worker on the British Embassy in Germany’s capital, Berlin, and alleged that he acquired an unspecified sum of money handy papers to Russia.
“On no less than one event he forwarded paperwork obtained in the midst of his skilled actions to a consultant of a Russian intelligence service,” German federal prosecutors said in a statement Wednesday. “In return for offering info, the accused acquired money.”
London’s Metropolitan Police confirmed the arrest in its own statement, saying the 57-year-old had been detained in Potsdam, close to Berlin, and was hit with prices associated to “Intelligence Agent exercise.”
The person is anticipated in courtroom in Germany later Wednesday. German authorities stated his house and office have been searched.
